Description:
Class 5 Heavy Combination Vehicles, (One and half day course)
With a full class 5 heavy vehicle driver’s license, a driver can operate.
- A combination heavy vehicle with a Gross Laden Weight of over 25000 kg
- Vehicles covered in classes, 1,2, 3 and 4.
Operator requirements prior to applying for a full class 5 license.
- Operators must hold a current and valid class 5 learner’s license.
- If the operator is less than 25 years old, the 3-month waiting period applies.
- The 3-month waiting period does not apply to operators over the age of 25.
- Operator must show evidence of practical driver training prior to licensing assessment.
- If the applicant provides evidence of the completion of unit standard 24089 within the last 12 months, there is no requirement of re-sitting this unit standard for this course.
Course content
- Unit standard 24089 (as required)– Fatigue management, work time and driver logbook.
- Unit standard 15158 – Carry out pre-start vehicle on a heavy vehicle, prepare vehicle for use, and shut it down.
- Unit standard 17577 theory training and assessment.
- 2 Hours of pre- licensing practical driving and coaching
- Full class 5 practical driving assessment
- Feedback and acknowledgement of assessment results
- A re-assessment option if available at an extra cost when the desirable outcome is not achieved on a full class 5 practical and or theory assessment.
